According to a poll by the market research company Savanta, in May 2023 GB News was ranked as the UK's most-loved news brand, ahead of The Guardian and The Sun, which suggests that the station is not going to close down any time soon
The trick is to tell your audience exactly what they want to hear. Works like a charm. I think The Daily Mail is, or at least was, the best-selling newspaper too. That has certainly always been the Guardian's approach, but even the Social Workers Gazette could not stay top dog forever.

If we can Knight a loony like Grayson Perry we can Knight a democrat like Nigel Farage. Arise Sir Nigel. You want to knight a Putin enabler? Farage voted against EU measures to curb Putin's propaganda. Can you write two posts in a row without contradicting yourself, Vinny?

A kick in the teeth for the mob who deride it, but GB NEWS got top award after just two years after it was launched for Best Multinational News Programme. Nigel Farage got an award for Best Presenter. tric.org.uk/winners/The 2023 awards were sponsored by one of their nominees, GB News.[9]
Not mentioned elsewhere, although it might be a bit of misinformation.
But not much different to political awards these days: Almost a quarter of House of Lords appointees over the last decade were party donors, and almost half have a political connection to party appointees, analysis by PoliticsHome shows.
In that time, House of Lords appointees have donated over £50m to the parties that nominated them...

Come the revolution, I will insist on being shot with organic vegan bullets, which will start a debate that will go on and on until I get the chance to slip away and join Motor Trader and defund The Guardian

The trick is to tell your audience exactly what they want to hear. Works like a charm. I think The Daily Mail is, or at least was, the best-selling newspaper too. The Daily Express (under Beaverbrook) once had the largest circulation. Later, Murdoch’s Sun was the leader, despite being a Tory-supporting paper though Page Three probably accounted for that. It’s probably true that many news media listeners/readers/viewers prefer to have their own opinions backed up and massaged, but there are those (of which I’m one) who access a range of news outlets we feel offer factual reporting and background…

Not sure the guardian has ever been 'top dog' - in the past it relied on tax avoidance to stay in business and now it relies on not paying for content and then giving that content away for nothing. Hence it still loses money..
