Well no. MPs do together. Backbenchers don’t.
You seem to favour a presidential fixed term parliament system. What do you think the advantages and disadvantages would be?

Is there a better system for a political party to get rid of a badly performing leader than the method the Tories have? I think you have turned the problem upside down. It is clear the problem here is the parties are insistent upon playing a game of pretending those who pay to swell its ranks and fill its coffers get influence in choosing the parliamentary party leader and possibly even candidates, whereas in fact all they get is the warm feeling their money persuades some parts of government to act in their interests. Which only works if their interests coincide with those donating six and seven figure sums.

Labour have a system in which Blair, a man who caused a war most of us didn't want (Iraq), carried on as leader of the Labour party despite losing them 1.1 million votes in 2005, and then when Gordon Brown took over, there was no leadership election.
In the same era, Iain Duncan Smith was replaced with Michael Howard and they gained 33 seats.
The Tories have a more effective system than Labour do.

Didn't Ed Milliband change the as Labour Party election system, or am I imagining that? indeed he did. Within a few weeks of getting elected as leader following the failure of Brown’s attempt to remain governing the country, the chap was sending Peter Hain into community Centres to ask ‘what did we do wrong’. I went to the meeting in Alway the heart of Newport sink estatedom and all were in denial. To be fair i don’t know what he changed but everyone was blaming him for giving the party Jeremy Corbyn as leader I’m quite disappointed Corbyn’s gone. Tbe Knesset would gave ensured no labour party ever got elected with him in charge.
