Land Rovers have keys and in the key is a battery. At some point the battery is going to go flat. The battery is in a sealed plastic case and soldered in. In order to deal with a flat battery you need to pay the dealers $1000 for a new key.
It's no wonder the British car industry is going to the wall. I'm disgusted at their business practices and intelligence.

Every BMW produced has 7 keys. The purchaser gets a chauffeur key and 2 more keys. If members of the famiy require their own key they are supplied on request. If all 7 keys were lost or failed it would cost around 18K to replace the body modules and other modules in their multiplex systems. So it makes LR's cost of 1K bucks look like small change BVL.

What passes for a Land Rover these days, is nothing like the original design.
The old ones you could easily work on yourself. You could turn a 90, or a 110, into a pickup, and back again. Meccano on wheels.
One of my friends uses his as a camper van.
Proper bed in it and a kitchen.

Land Rover Key Repair ServiceHyundai charge similar, but I changed my own CR2032 battery when it was flat after 4 years use, and it cost me £1 for a Duracell version. As they say, it's not rocket science. And for all the electronic wizardry, criminals are still able to steal keyless cars!

The new Land Rover keys also take a CR2032 and you just pop the cover off to replace them.

As they say, it's not rocket science. And for all the electronic wizardry, criminals are still able to steal keyless cars! yes the suzuki had some crazy sequence you had to go through to ‘re-initiate’ the key electronics if you changed the battery in the key, and mitsubishi did too. Mitsu have the instructions in the owners manual, suzuki had theirs leaked on the internet. What really pissed me off was half the driving display on the suzuki went down the toilet and got replaced by a service interval alarm as soon as the countdown hit zero and it was several hundred for an interface box on eBay to turn that off … The dealer i used to consider my go to guy for all my car purchases and servicing lost literally thousands the day his new service manager chose to not change the oil when i had the car in for about £650 worth of brake pad work. He was expecting me yo bring it back three months later and pay £250 for an oil change and an alarm reset. I found another mechanic in another garage who did it for £75 It’s s bit of a shame because i went to the earlier guy originally because their head mechanic Andy kept my Vauxhall running in my 100k miles a year freelancing days through ingenuity, sweat, blood and magic, and in return got the profits from servicing the wife’s and both kids cars, and they were my first port of call when any needed replacing. But somewhere tbe year before the pox one grasping attempt to screw me for £250 ended years of that. The only upside was Andy had retired the year before.

The new Land Rover keys also take a CR2032 and you just pop the cover off to replace them. Why don't you phone this customer and tell him yourself that he bought the wrong car? I'm sure he will be delighted to hear your smart-arse reply.

The new Land Rover keys also take a CR2032 and you just pop the cover off to replace them. Amazon has a whole range of Land Rover Keys an batteries for sale so, does Ebay plus replacement batteries, there are companies that can and do override the systems get you back in, also car thieves manage to steal Land Rovers far to often keys or no keys

It was foreign cars which started off the pisstaking prices of spares.

It's already been shown to you that the original post in this thread was incorrect about Land Rover keys and batteries.
