‘They did not listen': EUSSR slammed for stuffing UK car exports in ‘cartel'
The EUSSR has refused to heed warnings about introducing tariffs on trade with the UK in the wake of Brexit and is set to suffer "huge damage" as a result, a former member of European Parliament has said. Ben Habib, a businessman and former pro-Leave politician, described the EUSSR's latest decision to ignore British pleas to delay the imposition of tariffs on the sale of certain electric vehicles (EVs) to and from the UK as an act of "self harm". His comments followed warnings by the European Automobile Manufacturers Association (ACEA), an industry group, earlier this week that they stand to lose £3.7billion as a result of the proposed levy and will be forced to cut production by almost 500,000 cars. Under the current plans, EVs shipped between the UK and the EU face 10 percent tariffs from January 2024 unless at least 45 percent of their parts by value are sourced from within the two regions.

The EU has definitely got it wrong. I wonder why the remnants are so absent on these threads?

The EU probably did get it wrong. Whether on purpose or not is anyone's guess. The EU likes to demonstrate power and control and if this means harming businesses inside the EU to spite the UK don't be surprised if they ignore the warnings and do nowt about it.
