But they are our independent free trade agreements now, and we can and will tweak them further - like we did with Japan. They are ours now. Get over it. If you have a problem with that write a letter to Barnier or ze Commission. Your fabulous free trade(s) are worth, if fully used, .08% of UK GDP. And Australia is laughing at you. Let's not forget it was negotiated by that economic genius Truss. As i said i am fed up with brexitears'clutching at whatever straw they can find they can find. You sound like those migrants in a sinking boat clinging onto whatever they can find, thinking "well i still have this piece of rubber to hold onto. And if i can't, i can imagine one or pretend it is bigger than it is." Japan has been seriously investing in the UK for a quarter of a century, building vehicles. Japan has been withdrawing production and is now shutting factories in the UK. www.neweurope.eu/article/honda-becomes-second-japanese-auto-company-to-cut-manufacturing-in-uk/www.business-live.co.uk/enterprise/nissan-stop-sunderland-cylinder-head-24831545You can hsve as many trade deals as you want. If busulinesses dont use them because the economics dont make a profit, they are worthless. This is what i mean by debating headlines. It is poor superficial, selective and tediously repetitive. So take another tour of your bowl, Bubbles. Why would Australia be laughing at the UK when all UK exports are tariff free? And where eventually UK consumers get more options to purchase goods and are not being ripped off by artificial price rising like EU consumers are? You're just bitter Kim. My point to you stands, the UK should have those deals, and do have those deals - your bitterness for the UK having the temerity to leave a declining trade bloc is evident. It was on the other forum too.

"Why would Australia be laughing at the UK when all UK exports are tariff free?" Australia is laughing at us because they know they won't be importing anything from the UK. Tariff-free they may be, but Australian businesses aren't importing English sausages. They're just exporting to the UK. Tariff-free, of course.

Cars, machinery, pharmaceuticals, services and digital tech. In fact Gnomey, the UK exports more to Australia than the other way round. Australia's top export to the UK is gold - no doubt you will whinge about the standard of Aus Gold soon after you've read a headline somewhere about it. But let's hope, Australia's exports of agri-food pick-up so UK consumers can have top quality products at a reasonable price, compared with the Irish beef the EU exports "tariff free, of course".

Only in the wacky world of the EU could the consumer getting cheaper prices be seen as a bad thing..

And dont be so proud of our abilities as a psychoanalyst. What you are is a constant repetition of a very old jaded attempt to put down those who have been proven right. what i feel is contempt for the easily led and those who believed a habitual liar who has now left the country to clean up his mess.

As i said and you have now confirmed, Australia deals principally with the US and the Pacific Rim. Any UK trade deal with them is virtually meaningless. And since it hasnt come into force yet, there is no possibility of assessment.

I never said anything about trade being one way. You're inventing things. Yes, anything the UK sells currently to Australia is small. That's the point of the deal to expand it as much as possible. The UK trades more with the US than Aus, so what? The UK will also be trading more freely with Pacific nations too. You seem envious of the fact that the UK is reaching out to the RoW and not stuck in some low growth region of the world where an insular outlook in naval gazing is of the utmost importance. And for the record, I don't think I've ever seen you proven right on anything.

So much for you being proven right. You know very little and get caught out by your own BS.

Possibly the worlds Number One source of accurate reference is The CIA World Handbook when it comes to facts, figures and economic data for the nations of the world.
This is what the reality is regarding the United Kingdom
In 2019 UK exports totalled $893.1 --- In 2021 UK exports totalled $874.5
The year for which the last accurate figures are available (2021), UK exports to just 2 EU countries, Germany and The Netherlands combined, were MORE than what we exported to the United States, proving the point that the EU is by a long way, our most important trading partner.
When you consider that most cars manufactured here go to Europe, that 80% of fish caught by British fisherman goes to Europe, most of our agricultuaa exports, most finished and manufactured goods, it would make perfect sense to join the Single Market.
Our economy is SMALLER than what it was when we were in the European Union, GDP per capita is lower, and whilst inflation is high across Europe, food inflation is highest in the UK.
common sense is an asset that is clearly lacking in those who still believe we are better off outside the EU

So, it makes no sense to join the Single Market, when the UK can trade elsewhere more freely with growing regions of the world and not stuck in one of the most stagnant ones.

UK’s post-Brexit trade deals with Australia and New Zealand kick in Move called ‘historic’ but agreement with Australia forecast to raise Britain’s GDP by only 0.08% by 2035
Joanna Partridge Wed 31 May 2023 03.43 EDT Share on FacebookShare on TwitterShare via Email The UK’s post-Brexit trade deals with Australia and New Zealand have come into force, a moment lauded by the government as “historic” despite critics arguing they give away “far too much for far too little”.
The trade agreements – the first of those negotiated after Britain’s EU exit to enter into force – come after George Eustice, who was the environment secretary when the UK-Australia trade pact was struck in December 2021, admitted it was “not actually a very good deal” for Britain.
More than 99% of Australia’s exports to UK now duty free under trade deal The government’s own calculations estimate that the deal will have a negligible long-term contribution to the British economy, forecasting it will increase UK GDP by only 0.08%, or £2.3bn a year, by 2035.
The entiree population of the UK and Australia know this. Why dont you?
It has been in force for three weeks. I see no Aaustralian ships or planess lining up to transport British pork pies and Marmite.
HOWEVER Special shipments of British goods such as signed Beano comics will be among the first to be sent under the new arrangements.
😂🤣🤣😂

Neither the UK or any other eu member was "stuck" in the EU. It could trade with 80 or so other countries on special terms and anyone in the world through the WTO. Taake another turn round your bowl Bubbles.

What went wrong?

Why do Brexiteer people misuse statistics to promote a falsehood ?
Why is trade between ALL INDUSTRIALISED AND DEVELOPED NATIONS falling as an overall percentage of trade ?
Simple - Because of rapidly developing and emerging markets such as China, Brazil, India and other emerging economic powers.
Trade amongst and between EU nations is not declining at all, but because trade with the emerging economies is growing, it automatically reduces trade as a percentage with long established leading economies. United States trade with Canada and Mexico is falling for the same reason.
You can attempt to deny facts as long as you want, but its still a fact that the EU, is by a long way, our most important trading partner, and will remain so for as long as anyone can see.

So, as you admit, our trade with countries outside of the EU was becoming ever more important (and EU becoming less important) - whether we were in the Single Market (or not) had absolutely no impact on that. If we rejoined the SM do you think it would be any different?
