He was PM of Italy four times, and an MEP until last year.
He'd been tried for corruption many times, fraud, and sex offences. After leaving office, he found a new job at the EU. A supporter of Putin, and the illegal invasion of Ukraine.
He left a lasting imprint on EU politics, his stain will be on it for many years to come.

Did he try to steal democracy in Italy by proroguing Parliament?

Yes but he held some good parties... Rumour has it they paled in comparison to Thatcher and Pinochet's little get-togethers. There's some old video footage of Mao's parties. As he went into semi retirement as a elder statesman Mao quietly retired and held many Western-style parties that would have jazz and other popular music that went on all night where thousands of people danced together, including many westerners. These people were all sorts of people and the idea is they were all equally welcome as The People. It's all of Mao's philosophy rolled into mega parties and they had fun. I think it was this that demonstrated he really did believe in his own philosophy and wanted to show that it worked. He was the host of the most. Sharing what he had as he had done on the Long March as he shared his last rations with a lowly soldier who was about to die from starvation.

Yes indeed, but you should still love your next but three neighbour. Besides they were much closer when it was the full Soviet Union.
Italy is a bit of a funny place. We think of it as in with the good guys but it has streaks of radicalism about it. In the south law is an optional thing and in the north it is much richer but there is a tradition of not paying any tax. The father of my closest school friend owned a restaurant in Ischia. He was hardly ever there so had to rely on others to run it for him. One day the mafia turned up and said they are having it. Apparently they were very polite about it too. After that he no longer had a restaurant in Ischia. There was no point in phoning the police as they would have already known about it.

Baron, I don't mean to be nasty, but have you any idea just how murderous the regime in Moscow has become? And for that matter, China.
You seem to have a soft spot for the BRICS economies but the fact is Russia and China are run by mass murdering bastards who belong in prison.

Boris Johnson tipped to 'do a Berlusconi' and force his way back into office
There's pictures of their meetings too...

The only way Boris could get back in, is with a new party, and everyone else being more shit than he is.

Perhaps Sunak, or perhaps Starmer, but they need able and competent back-up, which is not yet identifiable...
PS — I just hope the Tories don't fully destruct like after Major!!!

They are close enough to get their oil and gas from Russia and besides during soviet times many Russians freely moved around the Soviet Union much like EUers do today. All this would have bypassed your rude and superficial mind.

Yes but he held some good parties... Rumour has it they paled in comparison to Thatcher and Pinochet's little get-togethers. Fuck me you are a miserable sod if you would rather go to a party with Thatcher rather than attend one of Silvio's Bunga Bunga parties.. I bet you are a riot on a night out..
