We shouldn’t celebrate this imo. Abbott should of been able to say this without being cancelled. The lefty woke taboo spectrum is getting thinner and less tolerant . Well it's a case for Labour ....... be careful what you wish for.
Sorry no sympathy for them, they want to cancel everything, unless it involves them, you can't have your cake and eat it, and yes I agree 'the lety woke taboo spectrum is getting thinner and less tolerant' ... but they created the monster.

I know of no other person in the Parliamentary Labour Party who holds such views, but of course if you have evidence of other Labour MPs expressing the view that anti-semitism IS NOT racism, then lets all know who those people are.
The Jewish people are both a particular faith, and a race of people ( ethno-religious group ), therefore to discriminate against Jewish people can correctly be described as "racism".
There are today many Jewish people within the Labour Party including Jewish MPs, the UK Labour Party has a long history and tradition of association with Jewish people, including a man I admired very much "Gerald Kauffman".
The Labour Party DOES NOT harbor anti semites, and it does not condone anti semitism, the period when Corbyn was leader soured relations between the British Jewish community and the party, but that is now in the past.

Please explain how I, or anybody else for that matter, conclude that Abbott was an anti-semite, or held anti semetist opinions, because until today she has never espoused such views.

thomas - not only can you not stop yourself from been insulting and revert to using foul language, but you also assume a lot without any basis or evidence. Until today, no body had even the slightest notion or evidence that Abbott held such views about Jews, and I have absolutely no doubt what so ever, that had she indicated or espoused such views, she would have been suspended from the Labour Party. All I know is that Abbott represents the kind of Labour Party which is unelectable, she has other nutty, fringe views, and supports a Labour leader who led the party to a humiliating defeat - and this time she has gone too far and tripped up over herself. I am married to a foreign born woman who is not a Christian, I am the least likely person on this board to be racist in any way, shape or form. I utterly deplore anti semitism, just as I deplore ALL forms of racism. I would say that you assume far too much. As far as I can see she is only repeating what many in her party have been saying for years in that only black and other coloured people that suffer racism and everyone else suffers prejudice. It's a travesty that the likes of Diane Abbott, Lammy, Lenny Henry and many many more black people, do a disservice in the name f racism, because we'd be foolish not to be aware there are racist bigoted prejudice people out there, including colour, religion sexuality and so on.
We get it, and most decent civilized people would not tolerate it, but the likes of Abbott who screams racism if anyone dares to question her, yet on the next breath she ignores and thinks there is nothing wrong with being racist towards none 'black people' is not racism but being misunderstood, puts Labour in a untenable position. They can't be half in half out, they either decry racism regardless of colour, religion, sexuality, they can't cherry pick what they find offensive.

Well she has been saying for as long as I can recall, it is not new in her philosophy, it was around when Lee Jasper was saying the same thing and that is well over a dozen years ago. Maybe her mistake this time was to actually identify groups of white people who suffer prejudice/racism. If she had just said white people no eyebrows would have been raised. So it seems one can appear to be anti white but not appear to be anti semitic. |

As a Black person it is reasonable for her to think of racism as being something that White people subject Black people to. The Holocaust was caused by a dispute between ethnically different White people ... therefore she had no reason to mention it. In my experience Black people, even educated Black people, noticeably lack knowledge of, are not as aware of the details of the Holocaust as white people are. It's something that White people did to each other. One shouldn't expect Black people to be as interested in, have knowledge of, the goings on in Europe during the times when they were being persecuted in their own countries by all factions of the White race. The focus of her thinking when she wrote the letter was White on Black racism. Black people shouldn't be expected to absorb themselves in European history. well....that could explain why we have ended up with a shed load people chucking statues in rivers because they have fuck all idea about anything to do with history....or at least the non-woke version. Black history seems begin and end with victimhood - slavery...nothing else just slavery....?? White woke history is now the calculus of what we owe for the slave trade....neatly packaged little view of world history. Aw well...guess it gives white middle class arts students something to get all riled up about.... |

But Sir Keir wants shot of all the lefties in the party so that is her screwed. Our Di has a certain personal following, but the Brothers and Sisters could stick a dead pig on the ballot paper and as long as it wore the party rosette, the faithful would still vote it in.
