St Patricks day is a bank holiday, St Andrews day is a bank holiday, why shouldn't the vast majority on the island of Great Britain have a holiday on their national day as well.

Haven't we got enough bank holidays already?
We're even getting an extra one for the Royal thing next month.

I've retired so Bank Hols mean little to me. Therefore I say no as we need to keep those in work producing as much as they can to build back better. We can't let the Lazy B's keep swanning off all the time.

I don't think I got it. "St Andrew's Day bank holiday If 30 November occurs on a weekend, the bank holiday is moved to the following Monday. Employers are not required by law to give employees a holiday on the St Andrew's Day bank holiday."

Well you may think we have enough bank holidays Walter, but with eight bank holidays a year England and Wales are at the bottom of the list when it comes to public days off compared with the rest of Europe.

I know it's difficult to celebrate anything unless your a minority in this bloody country, but I do think the English should be encouraged to celebrate their special day.

I've click yes, but I do feel bank holidays are getting to numerous. They take away peoples ability to choose when they would like their time off.
Perhaps we could swap St George for Good Friday as we're not religious anymore.

OK it's an opinion ZG and of course you're entitled to an opinion. But why? Not why you're entitled to an opinion, why not have a couple more bank holidays, and more to the point why not make St Georges day special? Why not encourage the English who make up the vast majority on this island, to celebrate a special day? I'll tell you why ZG. In this country thanks to things like political correctness and woke only minorities may celebrate special days and festivals. The BBC go all out to publicise and promote Ramadan, but don't you dare wave an England flag you nasty far right extremist.

Bank holidays are expensive for the latter.

Bank holidays are expensive for the latter. Yes I'm aware of that. And even though we have so few bank holidays our productivity is still crap. Perhaps a little motivation, a little encouragement might help. I jest not encouraging, motivating and rewarding people pays dividends. A motivated workforce is easy to work with. Unfortunately, in my experience, civilian managers don't understand man management.

I am heartened btw, that only one person thinks St Georges day should not be a bank holiday. I will find you... ...and at play time I'll duff you up.

Anyway, only one French holiday (Labour day) is statutory and must be paid. The rest are paid but bound into the overall holiday entitlement. As for St Georges day, as I said I clicked yes. as far as I know we have NO bank holidays for any other religious group bar Christianity. As for waving the St Georges flag, it was unfortunately stolen for a while by those wishing to point out that ethnic minorities were unwelcome in the UK. I think it has now lost that stain and I see quite a few around. Do the BBC spend more time on Ramadan than on Easter? I seriously doubt it.
