A woman on disability benefits who had been using her allotment to grow food for others on benefits and also for poorer pensioners has had her efforts destroyed by an obviously malicious attack. Someone or a group of someones whom the media describes as vandals have purchased a large quantity of salt, climbed over a fence with it, and scattered it over her entire allotment so that nothing can grow there. This is not going to be the work of your usual mindless teenage vandals - too much cost and effort involved. This is clearly a targeted attack by someone or a group of someones who are triggered to anger by the notion that someone might be giving free food to the poor. This is therefore as much a hate crime as it is a crime of criminal damage, done by someone who hates the idea of any other person giving anything for free out of their own efforts and pockets to welfare claimants an/or struggling pensioners. A hateful piece of human detritus for whom the word "scum" is too good. Probably a Tory voter.... First of all, if her allotment has been salted all she need do is give it a really good drench from the garden hose, which will wash the salt into the subsoil. There is no need to need to mulch decent, well meaning mugs like srb7677
Secondly, if her soil is heavily polluted (which it ain't because there is no such thing as bad soil, just crap gardeners), she can plant in tubs, which is a hell of a lot easier and productive.
Thirdly, I feed me and mine on a double allotment, but not 1,613. You don't need an allotment to do that, you need a fucking prairie.
As said before, I am the kindest of men and reckon that this story in the biggest load of bollocks since Mary told Joseph she was up the spout via the Holy Ghost

Funny you should say that but when I saw her garden in the telly it was a big garden and overlooked by several houses around so either it’s a combined effort by the neighbours who heaved a few sacks of salt over the fence and spread it around unnoticed by her or she did it . |

Well, Ms Burd was talking about 5 kilos of salt, which would just about do for a plate of fish and chips. Still, if it was more and she did it herself, it is nice to see that she has gotten her strength back.  |

I’m not sure whether she could of actually fed over 1600 people with that small allotment but she probably can with the £160k. It’s a happy ending . Harlow is the arsehole of Essex . I met some nice people and made some good friends there but I suspect it was done by someone with a grudge , not Liz Truss . I watched the video without sound. I'll watch it later with sound. There were no tears. Such lazy reporting by the so-called newspaper. There was not that much salt. If that was dug in it would make next to no difference to soil production. I seriously doubt the story but I do find that the tiktok video and indy story have raised £160k, so it was a great fund raising exercise. "Tasting salt in the air" *rolls eyes* |
