I’m pretty sure that if we had a non political president as head of state we would still be paying as much as we do for a constitutional monarchy.

Fairsociety The British Government is putting a substantial amount of money into showcasing national culture, Okay, so it's a foreign culture, and the cynical will say it's for political and propagandist reasons ..... but never the less  The Eurovision Song Contest, being held in Liverpool in May, will get £10m from the UK government, it has been announced.It will be spent on operational costs like security and visas, as well as making sure the event "showcases Ukrainian culture" .................. Unusually, as part of the £10m UK government commitment, the BBC will receive some financial assistance, the DCMS confirmed - but neither it nor the BBC would confirm what this sum was.The majority of the funding package will go, the government says, towards ensuring "the inclusion of Ukrainian culture", but it did not give further detail when asked.

They will syay there with any luck....Oh silly me they won't get their benefits if they do....It was a nice thought whilst it lasted.. "Benefits"?! He runs a successful boat yard and she's a sought-after artist. I doubt either of them have claimed benefits for decades, if ever. |
