Have a spin through these graphs from the OECD and Bank of England etc. where it becomes clear why we are failing.
My view is the general stupidity of the country has led to it being unable to diagnose the problem.

I don't watch YouTube comments. But I tend to at least partly agree with your post. It does seem to me that too many of the British electorate are extremely naïve and are too easily led by the amount of political biased propaganda that appears to dominate the thoughts of so many otherwise intelligent individuals. I'm not keen on harping back to Thatcher but no well informed individual with a vote would have kept her in office for 11 years.

welcome to the consequence of 5 decades of Comprehensive education.. Idiot. The education system has nothing to do with a badly educated populace? -- OK, if you say so..

welcome to the consequence of 5 decades of Comprehensive education.. Idiot. It's true, absolutely true, and it was the Wilson 60s Labour that set it off at the same time as setting up teacher training colleges that atteracted so many lefties, the type that arrived at school wearing sandals, beads and telling the pupils to call them Fred, Jim and Jules.

What is it with this country? Are you afraid to see it or what?

The truth is far more depressing.
Western civilisation is dying becomes like all dead civilisations throughout history we have become comfortable and complacent.
You can literally half ass your way through your education and career and still have a semi-decent life... and then blame the government / media for your lack of success.
The East will overtake us because they have the drive and determination that hardship brings... but ultimately the same fate will happen to them.

I just found a BBC article which purports to tell you why the economy is failing.
What a fucking clueless bitch. This is what we are subjected to in the UK. Even the professors talk in meaningless terms.
The short video at the beginning gets right to the core of the problem, where the BBC just leaves you in la la land. The article was written by another dozy woman too.

The latest news was saying the government were due to join the Horizon Project and pay a billion quid to fund the research it is involved in and also that failing to rejoin they would invest the same money in science themselves, but right now we are not in Horizon and no promised alternative funding has been provided, so expect the R & D spending to be even lower than what one sees on the graph if one were bothered to look at the data provided in the OP.

You waste bandwidth all day long. You haven’t addressed the real point though When i want to talk about ONS data i will post the url to the ONS data. Because i may have only talked about the executive summary and the few areas it referenced but i believe those wishing to engage in verbal fisticuffs deserve to have the actual data. Not a bloated video of someone rabbeting about what they SAY is the data but might not be. Posting text here is a few k Wasting Megabytes on some dodgy propaganda merchsmt’s take on the truth however ….

I can't be fucked searching a government website. They are horrible things to find the data you are looking for. The wankers often expect you to get an account and pay for it too.

In the latter half of the 20th century and into this century, some of the greatest breakthroughs in science and medicine has been through European co-operation.
Some of the greatest achievements in defence and aerospace has also been through European co-operation.
Before AirBus, there was no credible competitor to Boeing, America dominated; We produced the Typhoon, one of the best fighter jets around, ultimately superior to anything produced by China or Russia. The co-operation between European states in Physics and some areas of medicine cannot be matched, not even by the Americans.
Something like NINETY FIVE PERCENT of British scientists insist that we must co-operate with Europe
THe EU leads the world in science output, it is responsible for one third of the worlds scientific output, thats 34% more than the United States.
We need to not only reconnect with European institutions which we severed links with, but enhance it and be proud of what Europe can do when it works together.
