Th Irish economy is utterly dependent on the global markets. They are at the EU's mercy to survive (all eggs in one basket). Perhaps one day they will try and gain a little more independence without becoming stagnant.

Perhaps one day they will try and gain a little more independence without becoming stagnant. They'd find it hard. Their economy is so so dependent now on companies going there for predatory low taxes and free access to the EU market.

pathetic but shows your desperation to deflect from the failures of Brexit What failure? We're out. That's all Brexit is. Being independent of the EU. Anything else is on the government and with global issues, not the referendum vote. Meanwhile in Dublin, the global cost of living crisis, the energy crisis it's claimed another victim. Had this happened in the UK, it would have been blamed on Brexit. It's de rigueur with the Europhiles to blame any problem on it. And that, really is pathetic.

Pubs close every week in the UK, have been for yonks and I haven't seen anyone blame it on Brexit
You'v gone back to 'if a man farts in Paris it's all the fault of the EU' mode and like it or not Breix is to date a failure with no foreseeable improvement in that.

Indeed. Had this been a famous British pub closing down the usual suspects would be blaming Brexit. It's only fair therefore that the reason this pub is closing down is because Eire is a member of the EU.

Christ is that all you ultra Leavers have left? Made up out of thin air supposed positions backed with no evidence. Go on with so many pubs closing in the UK every week it shouldn't take you a minute to find a 'usual suspect' blaming Brexit for it. I won't hold my breath

So Middle you really denying that pubs close every week in the UK?
Or that no one has managed to find a 'usual suspect' blaming it on Brexit?
or that Vinny has a history of posting stories about single event everyday bad things happening in the EU or Scotland as it they were caused by such?
Do say

The cost of living crisis is blamed on Brexit. The cost of living crisis is impacting pubs and causing closures.

The cost of living crisis is blamed on Brexit. The cost of living crisis is impacting pubs and causing closures. So if that theory was true pubs weren't closing before the current cost of living crisis. Stupid theory than because they very much were. No intelligent person has blamed the cost of living crisis on Brexit (alone). It's not helping but is just one factor.

I can buy a decent beer in the supermarket for just over a pound a pint, or go to a pub and pay £4.50. Although there is a pleasant feel to sitting in a pub with friends, sitting at home for a third of the price is probably OK.

Steve, food banks are a good indicator of when the cost of living crisis began. The first food banks in the UK opened up in 2000. All that happened is that matters got worse, and worse, and worse.
