A storm in the teacup for most in the time between making the mistake and correcting it.
Obviously some peoples dreams will be shattered yet this happens all the time with people gettng bad health diagnosis or unexpected redundancy.
I would love to hear about the method for calculating an average and the method for knowing what population factors they took their data. Averages can be useful or very misleading.
