You had the chance to call it a joke but you didn't saying you could justify it so don't pretend now that it was such after it's pointed out for what it was. Seems you believe there's nothing wrong with people having their lives wrecked by Cocaine as for them taking it is the only way they can compete with others taking it. Or nothing wrong with people out of their heads on junk in charge of children and driving cars etc. You want to end drug gangs then make it a condition of getting government contracts that the supplier has a random drug testing programme with zero tolerance on proven failures and no licences for music performances unless same applies to performers How do you get from ending prohibition to jumping to being nothing wrong with driving under the influence. Do you realise how silly you sound?

Or legalise drugs and take away the profits from organised crime. Cocaine wrecks nowhere near as many lives as alcohol or even tobacco.

Surely Steve, you're not making excuses for these feral thugs? Which part of 'throw away keys' do you need explained But we have to deal with the reality, societal factors are making gang membership a rewarding life choice for these human detritus. Take away their fuel too. Steve, how many times; my dad died before I started school. My brother and I grew up hard, no one fucked with us. We looked after each other. We had nothing but we never ever mugged stabbed or shot anyone in order to rob them, but we did have a strong mother who kept us in line, and she really did. It's no secret that so many black kids grow up in one parent families. As Denzel Washington said; Where are the fathers. The point being, me and our kid never had a ping pong table, yet we never resorted to robbing people at knife point. Gang culture is a black thing.

Times were different then Red, unemployment was much much lower, housing much more affordable and heating same. But you do mention a key point: why are so many black children in single parent families and (IMHO linked) why is absenteeism from school higher in black children. Anyone denying these are serious issues at least in part responsible for the higher unemployment in ethnic blacks is a fool.

Cocaine Heroin wrecks a lot of people's lives either destroys the user's health and minds kills some of them or they drive under the influence and even kill a pedestrian or crash into another vehicle, lots of them in prison after throwing a wobbler and attacking others, lots of cannabis users in prison for doing the same during a psychotic episode.
I agree with Red; times were much harder 50 60 years ago then it is today, it was hand to mouth back then money was tight, it was hard for many people to feed their kids and keep a roof over their heads, if you got a girl pregnant if you did not marry the girl and look after the child in my hometown you were ostracised looked down on by the neighbours
