Chairman
I don't support the death penalty, but it is nice to hear a bit of straight talking for once "The new deputy chairman of the Conservative Party, Lee Anderson, has said he would support the return of the death penalty. In an interview with the Spectator before he was appointed to the role, he argued "nobody has ever committed a crime after being executed". In the interview, conducted a few days before he was made deputy chairman on Tuesday, Mr Anderson was asked whether he would support the return of the death penalty. In response, he said: "Yes. Nobody has ever committed a crime after being executed." "100% success rate," he added.

I do.
I'd have a gallows and a whipping post in every town centre.
If somebody kills one of your relative they will out in 15-20 years... just think about that.
Also, don't argue for life meaning life because that is a bullshit argument as no state can ever afford it.

Yes asked a " Question " and he gave his opinion no ducking and diving no trying to change the subject a full frank and honest opinion. I am in favour of the Death Penalty but not an automatic mandatory sentence in all and every case , only used when the punishment fits the crime for Terrorists Extremists that kill innocent people intentionally , be it by and IED or simply attacking innocent people in the street with a Knife or any other weapon, Child Killers , e.g the Soham Killer a predatory paedophile he took the lives of two innocent girls Each case Judged on its merit, but they will not bring it back

On a bit of a different note why not ask the prisoner, you do know there are prisoners who do not want to spend the rest of their lives in prison until they die, at least they could do one decent thing before they die, opt for the death sentence. Make it a option in sentencing, I am sure they'll be give ample time if they have a change of heart, in fairness to Ian Brady he did try to the get the law changed so he could be put to death, but I think the families thought it was a easy way out for him.

Strong opinions are ten-a-penny.

The problem is that the Left are ideologically against it and always raise the objection that in the past some innocent people have been executes. Their general argument is that it's better that 10 guilty people escape punishment than 1 innocent person is punished. So you always sentence the criminal with the possibility in mind that he/she is innocent. I'm not so sure.

There's plenty on the right who don't want it either. Hence why it isn't government policy. Maybe they just don't believe in killing people.

We now have such things as DNA evidence, soil and plant pollen analysis and more.
How Ian Huntley was caught was soil and plant pollen analysis, forensic evidence so specific to the scene of the crime the man changed his plea to guilty and confessed.
In very clear cut cases, forensic evidence can provide the evidence that the right person is going to the gallows.
If not so clear cut, whole life unless new evidence acquits.

Lee Anderson is a little bit of a showman, a professional Northerner he enjoys being on chat shows being heard to say the right things. He invariably says what the blokes down the pub like to hear. He hasn't yet given us his opinions on philosophical matters. Having said that, I would like to see him administer a haymaker to the twat in EU clothes shouting about in London, Bray is it?
