There is an obvious power struggle between the Thugs and criminals of the Wagnor Group and the conventional Russian forces. The head of the Wagnor Group has today admitted that if Putin wishes to steal ONLY The Donbas fom Ukraine, it would take up to two years to do. The operative word been "steal" .. it is an illegal war, it is an illegal invasion, and Putin is acting completely outside international law. Whatever happens on the ground in Ukraine, the international community will ensure that Putin cannot, and will not get away with it. The international community will, in the end, destroy Russia's economy through isolation and sanctions. I agree, Russia should never be allowed to get away with the invasion of Ukraine. Russia should be considered a global pariah. But I was absolutely stunned when earlier this evening I read that the IOC (International Olympic Committee) were discussing whether Russian and Belarusian athletes should be allowed to compete in the Paris Olympics next year. I was absolutely stunned. I mean, what is there to discuss? I cant belive the IOC are even discussing the possibility of Russian or Belarusian athletes attending the Olympic games.

Russia is not going to be able to overthrow the Kiev-regime and Ukraine is not going to be able to take back Crimea nor Donbass. As soon as both sides accept the situation the war will end enabling both of them to declare how they won. I think that boat has left,i believe Russia might take half of Ukraine up to and maybe a little beyond the River Dnieper as a buffer Zone, including Odessa, and to make sure those Ukrainian Nazis can never shell Donetsk again,as for Western Ukraine wouldn't be surprised if Poland took most of it. If the terrorists in the Donbass, helped by Russia had not tried to take control of areas of the Ukraine there would have been no conflict. And Herr Putin would not have needed to fill you with so many lies. You have clearly missed the obvious which is that Russia wants to increase its control over that part of the world. And enjoys killing and brutalizing Ukrainian citizens in the process.

Not sure andrew , but on the subject of poland , i see countries across europe are starting to fall out over the distribution of ukrainian refugees.
The german interior minister has complained that while poland has accepted 1.5 million ukrainian refugees , spain has only taken 160 000 , and refugees must be better dispersed more equally across the european continent.
Im sure thats going to go down like a lead ballon , with many european economies struggling , energy problems hitting hard , and of course the growing hysteria across europe about mass uncontrolled immigration from the third world .
What a world we are living in at the moment. We need to dial down the rhetoric and find a way of ending this war ,instead of escalating it.

Totally 100% agree with you
Apparently there are 35 nations who ( so far ) are calling for these two countries to be banned from the Olympics.
Whilst Russia is engaging in illegal activity, and whilst Putin s forces remain inside Ukraine, Russia must never again be allowed to be a part of not only the Olympics, but all cultural and sporting activities involving the international community.
ISOLATION

Maybe to know what the subject of the thread is about. I know what the subject of the thread is about . It’s about you besmirching the guy who is instrumental in halting the invasion of a rogue nation invading a sovereign nation next door . No, not me. He did it himself, but then you would not know that cos you are too ignorant due to the fact you believe you already know everything.

The Whitehouse is livid though. It can't face another defeat like Afghanistan. There is a real chance it will up the game to be WW3. America is losing power rapidly. I heard yesterday that France put in an order to Huawei for 250bn yuan's worth of 5G infrastructure. Europe is sticking the two fingers up at them. The pipeline business has broken any goodwill left. It's why the German chancellor looks so pissed off. He's being told to send tanks, but he does not look at all happy about it. Maybe he had tax problems. They have their ability to leaver these politicians.

ISOLATION well there is something like 206 countries that are members of the olympics , with the vast majority of them having no love for the yanks and the west , especially the global south and east.
So outside of europe , north america and australasia , im not sure who is supposedly going to isolate russia?
We can see how american sanctions are massively failing never mind isolating russia in the olympics. The global south and east continue to trade and deal with russia in a wide variety of areas including economically military and in sport.
India is buying shit loads of russian oil and refining it to sell to impoverished europeans who sit like whipped dogs doing washingtons commands.
Eventually we will come to accept this isnt a war anyone can win , and then get around the table and talk sense. Until then , we just have to listen to the daily sabre rattling and empty rhetoric on sanctions and bans as hundreds of thousands die in ukraine.

Well said Thomas. Yes that's what is going on. There's plenty of food on the shelves in Russia. Those to the East and to the South think Russians are heroes for taking on the corrupt US of A.

If the main gripe about sanctions is being excluded from international sports it goes to show that such sanctions don't work.
If sanctions filled their purpose sport would be completely trivial and the last thing on anyone's mind in the country which is being sanctioned.
