They may not have sung it in the interval for the match, but fans unable to get into the game who chose to watch it at venues round Newport certainly sang it on the way, my eldest tells me she could hear them singing it from two blocks away Sadly as reported above singing cheering and most related activities were in short supply as the game approached its end. Going off on a tangent. Many years ago I went to a nightclub in Cardiff, I was at a mates house for the weekend. Or his parents house to be accurate. We went into Cardiff to some nightclub, cant remember what it was called, big place over three floors, this would be... 1983, I think, anyhoo it was a good night I don't think I ever saw so many women in one place. But I'll never forget the scene we were met with when the club closed. As the crowds poured out into the street there must have been at least a dozen fights going on, and it was all women. They were like animals, I'd never seen anything like it there was hair & handbags flying everywhere. I went to some pretty exiting nightclubs but Welsh women were something special.

Tito’s Greyfriars Rd. it was sadly famed for it
Opposite the New Theatre (cant recall exactly where now) the top floor, the ‘Starlight Lounge’ could be booked as a private venue for next to nothing. Very popular as a student party venue
In ‘78 about ten of us in the same course at Cardiff all had our 21st birthday within a week of each other. Man, we had an absolute blast there. Not for the first time i turned my back on Moira for less than 30 seconds to order drinks at the bar and returned to find ten blokes trying to chat her up.
(We all had one thing in common, our fathers had come home from the Suez debacle on the same flight out of RAF Akrotiri or whatever it was called then, and to a man had been sent there fully expecting to die in WW3)
It is a measure of how far that area of Cardiff has sunk that about a decade ago, perhaps a bit more, the company I then worked for held its Christmas Bash at the ‘nightclub’ a little way down from where Tito’s once stood. A fairly expensive ‘corporate’ hotel the sort of place executives go to waste shareholders money was right across the road.
I arrived to find the place decked out fir a moulin rouge themed night.
But it was bloody awful and the beer like camel piss and none of the promised free shit was obvious.
I had one free pint, took about three mouthfuls, put it down and left
On my way out, the weirdest thing happened
As part of the ‘themed’ event they had a couple of street performers outside the door. Guy juggling with fire sticks, bloke on stilts, dancers in fishnets stuff
This woman utterly off her head on whatever staggered across from the executive hotel took one look at this guy on stilts and very loudly proclaimed ‘fuck me, a chance if a blow job without kneeling down’ and proceeded to demonstrate ….
I made my excuses and left. Never been back to the street since

Anyone watching the Frogs and Wops? After yesterday's poor show I've lost interest in the 6 nations. I'm too depressed about how little England have learned from last year. I'll probably cheer for Ireland in the World Cup.

You should be ashamed of yourself. I'll be sending the lads over to escort you to reconditioning camp, and you will not be allowed out until you can pass the Tebitt cricket test (without cheating!).

I'm part Irish and just exercising my right to switch allegiance to a team that might actually win something this year. Slàinte mhath, may you be in heaven half an hour before the devil knows you're dead.

I judge based on Eurovision song contest wins. It's currently 7-5 in Ireland's favour.

Now im no fan of rugby , my brother in law is a big england supporter , and he said to me england played well , scotland that bit better. Sometimes you have to hold your hands up and accept the better team on the day won.
Im sure once the dust settles you dont really mean it , and will be cheering your country on as ever in the next game.

Why why why... ...is there woke? buccy ,what happened in the rugby mate? Little england looking up to the mighty scotland once again ?
I tell you mate , your country is fucking useless at sport.
If England held the world morris dancing championship , and were the only country to enter , you would still lose the competition.

Scotland did play better on the day but that doesn't excuse how poor England were. We seem to have lost our mojo since the world cup final defeat to South Africa. Too much kicking and not enough running with ball in hand. I will be watching England play their next game but I don't hold out much hope that there will be anything to cheer about.

Dont feel too much gloom and doom , there is enough of that going about already without it creeping into sport.
Its the little moments mate that matter , when you can take the piss out of people like buccy for a wind up.
Im sure your country will have its moment in the sun .

I'll never forget that Johnny Wilkinson drop kick 20 years ago or the demolition of NZ in the semifinals 4 years ago. These things come in cycles but the realisation that 2023 is not going to be our year has come as a disappointment.
