I want low taxes, a well equipped military, reasonably competent public services and to be left alone. Other than that I am not overly bothered. I don't care how rich anybody else is, how often muggers fall fown the police station steps or a few chancers slipping across the Channel on rubber inner tubes. I have always considered myself to be pretty conservative but lately the Conservative party seems to be full of remainers desperate to betray the UK to Brussels and dimwits from St Mary Mead who are living in the 1890s, so sod them.

That’s a couple of minutes gone — I’m put just inside the Left Libertarian quarter (ie, top right corner of the segment). I can’t complain because that’s judged from my own responses. But the questions appear to be posed from a US point of view… It's just a bit of fun. For the record I am almost dead centre of the graph, so I'm a centrist. And you thought I was a far right extremist fascist extremist far right nationalist fascist. Tsk tsk tsk. So I'm placed a smidgen southwest of you.

It's a flawed test but here's where it says I am. I'm usually right next to Gandhi on these political compasses.  I tend to agree, it must be a flawed test. If it were accurate you would be about 2ft further to the left.  Most of the questions can't be answered in absolutes. Us pragmatists see all the nuances. |

These quizzes are all very good fun, but they seemed to aimed at Americans. Not only that, but a class of Americans who enjoy making their politics needlessly complicated.
Most of us, British/American/ Anyone else go down to the polling station, look at the candidates and think, well, this one is a silly looking bastard but the best of a piss poor field, tick the box and get on with our lives
