Suitable PCSOs should be made warranted officers if they wish, or made redundant. Unsuitable PCSOs should be made redundant.
Only warranted officers are properly useful in a Police Force. Even a Special Constable volunteer has more powers than a PCSO. The growth of PCSOs was a ploy to increase "officer" numbers, but having officer in their title did not make PCSOs officers. IMO PCSOs a big mistake, wasted money which could have been used on detecting these awful sexual predator crimes.

We don't need 20,000 more Police; we need at least 100,000 to Police over 65 million people which we cannot afford, the Tories are already increasing Police numbers but the problem being it takes time as fast as some join others are leaving We had 20,00+ more police officers but the Tories allowed them to go without replacing them to save money but it has, as many said, cost us more in the long run. |

Depends on what they are policing. If we 20,000 extra police assessing on line hate crime and non crime it will make not one jot of difference to real crime. |
